Veyllisto is an independent interface-platform project focused on making modern game libraries, launchers, emulators, physical media, and purpose-built hardware feel like parts of one cohesive system.

One platform, two deployment paths

Veyllisto Interface Engine is designed to run on an existing Windows, Linux, or macOS computer. Veyllisto OS is the planned dedicated environment for systems where Veyllisto becomes the machine's primary experience.

Both are intended to share the same core philosophy: interchangeable shells, one library, common metadata and settings, physical-media behavior, and a cohesive visual and audio identity.

The idea

Modern software is powerful, but it can also feel fragmented. Veyllisto is built around the opposite idea: the interface, game library, hardware, removable media, sound design, and setup experience should all feel like parts of one system.

The visual direction takes cues from late-1970s through early-1990s computing without copying a single product. The result is intended to feel believable, restrained, and functional rather than like a novelty skin.

02Retro, not impractical

Period-inspired presentation should never get in the way of modern usability.

03Shared systems

Different shells and deployment paths should use common libraries, settings, metadata, and backend concepts.

04Hardware matters

Physical media, sounds, labels, displays, and controls are part of the experience, not afterthoughts.

Where it is going

The immediate focus is a polished Windows release of the Interface Engine, followed by broader platform testing. From there, future work can expand shells, profiles, hardware integrations, update workflows, and eventually the dedicated Veyllisto OS direction.

The website is intentionally structured around Veyllisto as the umbrella so both products can grow without another architectural redesign.
